Bridging Communication and Care: Supporting Deaf Survivors’ Health Needs through Responsive ASL Interpretation
March 18 @ 2:00 pm - 3:15 pm EDT
(Rescheduled Event) Deaf survivors face compounded barriers when seeking support for their health needs, from limited access to crisis services to medical interpretation that can miss the nuances of trauma-informed language. American Sign Language (ASL) Interpreters play a critical role in Deaf survivors’ healing journey. Yet many do not have trauma-informed and medical setting specific training to effectively interpret. This webinar addresses these gaps by providing practical strategies for ASL interpreters to work more effectively in support of Deaf survivors.
Join the National Health Resource Center on Domestic Violence and DeafHope for two webinars on supporting Deaf survivors in the context of medical settings and medical interpretation.
This webinar will be presented in ASL with English interpretation and live captioning. Please indicate any additional language needs in the registration form.
